GOD’s PROMISES.
GOD’s PROMISES.
In the last article, I wrote “without faith, God’s promises have no basis or
strong foundation in our lives”. Take the story of the battle between the
Israelites and the Amalekites for example;
***Exodus 17:9-16 http://www.biblestudytools.com/kjv/exodus/passage.aspx?q=exodus+17:9-16
When Joshua told Moses the Amalekites wanted to fight against the Israelites, Moses wasn’t shaken, but he instead, out of faith, told Joshua to go with some men and fight against Amalek. Eventually, the Israelites defeated the Amalekites, and after their victory, God made to them a promise of “completely taking out the Amalekites.”…God didn’t give Moses the instruction of telling Joshua to take some men to fight against the Amalekites; neither did He tell Moses to go upthe mountain, holding the rod in his hand while they were fighting. But because Moses had faith (with the spirit of discernment) and he knew how faithful his God (our God) was (is), he was bold enough to take that step of faith with an assurance of total victory. Although God was silent all the way until the Israelites were victorious, it’s quite obvious He was with them for them to have attained such victory.
*** Exodus 17:13 And Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.

Many a times, we experience this and then start losing our faith in God because we’re blinded by our circumstances. Nevertheless, that shouldn’t be an excuse, when you’re faced with a difficult situation you must hold fast your faith believing His promise that “He will never leave nor forsake you”. Like Jacob fought with the Angel till He blessed him (though his limb was dislocated in the process that didn’t stop him), we must keep fighting/ trusting in God till His promise(s) toward(s) you is (are) manifested. Sometimes waiting on God’s promises might seem like eternity, but don’t be discouraged, though it tarries, it will surely come to pass, If HE says it, He will do it… provided you stay faithful.
Your
faith in God is actually one of the greatest weapons you have against the
devil, ‘cause when you have sincere faith in God, there’ll be a free passage
for His power to be made manifest through you, with which you can overcome the
devil. So just hold on to your faith and keep the engine running, and “don’t
let your past disappointments undermine your present faith”… Talking about
disappointments; not everything that seems like a disappointment is actually a
disappointment, some turn out to be blessings… “A bad/ unfavourable situation
isn’t a disappointment until you lose your faith and accept it as one.”
Back
to promises, the kind of people you keep around you have an effect on you and
God’s promises.
*** Exodus 17:12 "
But Moses' hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.
Imagine what would have happened if Aaron and
Hur didn’t support Moses, or weren’t there; 2 things could have happened: (1)
The Israelites could have been defeated. (2) God wouldn’t have made the
promise.
Another example… 1 Samuel 9:5-8

Had
Saul’s servant been the greedy and lazy type, Saul would have returned home,
and consequently would have delayed God’s plan for his life and the people’s.
Also, the promise in 1 Sam 9:17wouldn’t have been fulfilled…. The kind of
people you keep “closely” around you should be the kind that had the attitude
Aaron, Hur and Saul’s servant (amongst others) had.
God’s promises are like onions, I mean one
layer after the other, they keep unfolding, and they are
infinite. But the only limiting factor is your faithin Him and your
faithfulness towards Him… Don’t be in a hurry, don’t let the world influence your
faith in(or faithfulness to) God negatively.. Don’t be like Esau who traded his
birth right (which would have profited him greatly) for a meal of porridge (which
satisfied him for a short while)…. Be faithful, be patient, stay strong in the
Lord.
Grace be with you all, AMEN!
