FREEDOM FROM SIN.
Either as believers, or as
unbelievers, we all (tend to) struggle with sin and its nature.
Although the believers have a better chance of overcoming sin, its
nature and its father the devil. (1 John 8:44,
1 John 4:4).
John 8:32- And
ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
John
8:36- If the Son therefore shall
make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
Linking
the preceding verses, it’s obvious that Jesus was referring to
Himself here as “the Truth”, talking to us all. Calling us to
come and experience the divine cleansing power of His blood which He
shed for us on the cross, out of Divine Love to set us free from the
bondage of sin and death, irrespective of how voluminous our sins
might be.
Isaiah
1:18- Come now, and let us reason
together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall
be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be
as wool.
When
all that’s done, setting your soul free from the bondage of sin and
death and receiving salvation I mean; we now need to know the truth
more, not just Jesus, but also His Word. Yeah, that bible that some
of us only remember to pick up on Sundays, that we find so hard to
study and follow ITs instructions. If you want freedom from sin, not
only must you draw near to God “with your hearts” daily, seeking
His face in prayer and fellowship with Him, but you must renew your
mind through His Word (Romans12:2- And be not
conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of
your mind, that ye may prove what is
that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.).
Doing this, God can
freely send a revival to your body, soul, mind and spirit, even your
emotions and your circumstances.
Sin shouldn’t
bully you around, making you do things contrary to God’s will. No!
That’s not what God had in mind when he perfectly created Adam, and
when His Son Jesus gave His life for us. Sometimes it’s quite a
challenge to overcome sin and temptations; but then He said “His
Grace is sufficient for you” and “He’ll never allow you to be
tempted above that which you can bear, ‘cause He is Faithful.”
That addiction you
seem to be struggling with, don’t worry God will help you overcome
it, if you ask Him.
Hebrews
4:15-16 CEV- Jesus understands every weakness of ours, because he
was tempted in every way that we are. But he did not sin! (16) So
whenever we are in need, we should come bravely before the throne of
our merciful God.
There we will be treated with undeserved kindness
(mercy), and we will find help.
Don’t
think you can fight and win your battles alone. Oh no! Heaven doesn’t
help those who help themselves; but those who ask for God’s mercy.
Sometimes the devil might sneak into your mind, trying to remind you
of your ugly pasts, and how bad you’ve been/ will be. Next time,
just remind of how big a failure he was when he was kicked out of
heaven, and how much uglier his future will be. Don’t let the devil
make you feel any less than who/ what God says you are, a Conqueror,
an Overcomer, a new creature, a “born-again saint” not a “born
sinner”.
If you are a born
again already, start living like one, a true believer. Let your light
shine before all men wherever you go, let others see a clear
distinction between you and a non-believer when you speak, act, dress
and talk. Don’t give Christianity a bad image. Shey you know that
everyone will be judged by what they know, especially those who go to
church every Sunday listening to the pastor’s sermons, but once
they’re out of church they forget what the pastor said, or forget
to apply it to the corresponding aspect of their lives... To whom
much is given, much is acquired.
2
Peter 2:21 KJVA- For it had been better for them not to have known
the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it,
to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.
2
Peter 2:9 KJVA - The Lord knoweth how to deliver the “godly” out
of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the Day of Judgment to
be punished:
The pigs didn’t
know when Jesus would send a legion of demons to possess them,
causing them to run off the cliff and die.(Mark
5:11-13) You don’t know when Jesus will be back to judge the
whole earth with His Rod, not of correction, but of condemnation,
judgment and vengeance.
Come to Him now no
matter how numerous your sins are, He won’t condemn you. He’s
Jesus Christ, our Savior; He’s God not human.
2
Peter 3:9 KJVA - The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as
some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not
willing that any should perish, but that all should come to
repentance.
Grace
be with y’all. Amen!
