IDOLATRY.

Basically, idolatry is the worship of carved images, deities, people, and things. Simply put, idolatry is the worship of anything other than The Almighty GOD, The Maker of All things. Idolatry is also covetousness i.e. wanting physical or material things above that which your present spiritual level can handle, I’ll talk more about this later on as God wills.
From another perspective, idolatry is giving God no or less reverence than you should. If not all, most of us are guilty of this.
1 Corinthians 10:7-  Nor should we be idolaters, even as some of them, as it is written: "The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play."
Does that look or sound familiar? All some of us do is “wake, EAT, DRINK, work, PLAY and sleep”. From this I can say the whole of humanity irrespective of each person’s religion is divided into 2; those who truly worship God and those who don’t. The sad thing is that some so-called born-again follow this “eat, drink and play” routine as well. Check yourself, are you one of them? If yes, don’t worry… He still loves you. J Just try to do better, aiit?
We sometimes find it hard to give God our quality time; we try to fit Him into a little gap in our schedule. Some only acknowledge or thank Him during the first and last 5 minutes of the day, whereas the bible tells us to acknowledge God in all of our ways. Proverbs 3:5-6
A tithe of your day is what is required of you, the first 2hrs 30mins, during which you can pray and give thanks to Him in tongues and in the understanding. Study your bible in God’s Presence, fellowship, gist or have conversations with Him, maybe He might even share His secrets/ mysteries with you.  You’ve got nothing to hide from Him He knows all your secrets. Unlike man, God will never judge you to condemn you, only to correct you and make you a better person… He is The Righteous Judge. God is just a call away whenever you want to speak to Him, just make sure your heart is clean, and acknowledge Him. (Jeremiah 29:13)
2hrs 30mins might seem like a very long time to spend with God. But ask yourself, “is it a long time if you were watching a football match, movie, chit-chatting with your friends or doing other pleasurable things”? Your answer’s “No”, right? I thought as much. So if you can put that much time and effort into those things, why can’t you put the same and even more into serving, pleasing, honoring God, Our King and Creator? Even if you can’t do it because He created you and He’s your King and Father; do it because of the sacrifice Christ paid for you when He died for you… And if you can’t do it for those reasons, just do it to save yourself from hell and get into heaven; that’s a self-centered reason though.
Stop trying to find joy in the pleasurable things of this world. “All work and no play makes jack a dull boy; and all work and no God leaves Jack with a lost soul”- Casting Crown. True that, because in the end, when all things have been acquired “without God”, one’s soul gets attached to those things, and like a ship without an anchor or a house built on sand, when the storm comes, all will be lost, including the soul.
Matthew 6:33
1 Samuel 15:29
Serve and Love God diligently, and in due time, He will strengthen you, heal you, establish you, promote you, enrich you, enlarge you… the list doesn’t end. And in the end God will crown you with Glory when you become like Him, Perfect.
He wants to be Number One in your life, and that spot is meant for Him alone, don’t be an idolater o! Don’t walk in the footstep of your fore-fathers, who were idolaters. You are of a new breed, A NEW CREATURE.
