THE POWER OF ONE.

Image
Noah, Abraham,  Moses, Joshua, Samson, Deborah,  David, Esther and Jesus. These are some of the most remarkable Leaders in the Bible,  Jesus being the ALPHA-male. And One awesome character about these Men was that when God needed a man to stand in the gap, start a work of deliverance, or birth something new in the earth, God started with just one of them in their individual seasons. Thus, the title of this write-up, "The Power of One": or better put "The Power of One who is totally dependent on God and submitted to His Will." Jesus said "Unto what is the kingdom of God like? and whereunto shall I resemble it? It is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and cast into his garden; and it grew, and waxed a great tree; and the fowls of the air lodged in the branches of it." -Luke 13:18-19 Also  "Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you." -Luke 17:21 Jesus said the Kingdom of G

HEART MATTERS

Image
Perhaps what we are all looking for is not worth the  search though we might feel it’s the answer to the question in our heart…yeah, this is worth said if not looking inward. When I mean inward-inward in actual sense of who we are in Christ, what He has provided for man especially we as believers. ( Philemon 1 vs 6 ) Our walk in the scheme of things must be guarded by the framework of faith, and is important to know how to walk efficiently. Leadership is everywhere but true Leadership is found in Christ, he has given unto us all things pertaining to life and godliness; in this Leadership, the heart of man matters. ( Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the Lord ponder the hearts - Proverbs 21:2 ). Grace to you and to your heart, peace from God our father and the lord Jesus Christ. This is about leadership, not by the people, for the people, of the people but by Christ in us. We are destined leaders especially in our own sphere no matter how little. (Don’t despis

ONE MAN, CHRIST

Undoubtedly you would have to agree with me that the Greatest leader who has walked on the face of the earth is Jesus Christ, the Son of God, right?  One of His invaluable leadership qualities was His selfless Love and sacrifice even for the ones who despised him and were not worth it. Also His commitment to never leave nor forsake us even when we miss the mark, and to stand with us till we get it right and we are made Perfect and whole in Him. Now it is written that through one man i.e Adam, came death, but through The One Man Jesus Christ came Life Eternal which far outweighed and swallowed up death.  (John 3:16, Roman's 5:14-21). Now we need to understand that the sacrifice of The One Man Jesus Christ was not to the end that we be born again and become "children of God", rather that we be raised as sons who will enter into the fullness of His Glory and reign with Him in life having received the fullness of His Grace. (Hebrews 2:10, Romans 8:18, Romans 5

A LIVING SACRIFICE

Image
I beseech ye, therefore, brethren by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Romans 12:1 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God. And that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are. 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 You probably remember the song that goes: “My body is your sanctuary; Purify me as gold, So that I’ll be bold to say; My body is your sanctuary” The song combines both scripture I mentioned above, our body is God’s temple and should be pure; holy and acceptable. It is important that we take note of the oxymoron in Romans 12, “Living sacrifice” a sacrifice is usually a slaughtered animal of some sorts, but here it says we are to be living, breathing, moving sacrifices. This means that every day we are alive; we are to consider our bodies-the temple of the Holy Ghost as a

CHASING PURITY

Image
How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. (Psalms 119 vs 9)NIV There was a particular period I was reading a book (Face to Face with God) by Bill Johnson of Bethel Church, he gave an illustration about being shaped or conformed unto the image of Christ. “A man asked a sculptor how he was going to make an elephant from the irregularly shaped stone, the sculptor replied quite simply and fascinating. He said, I would just remove the part that does not look like an elephant.” Pretty good shay! Then it hit me, how do you shape an elephant if you don’t know how an elephant looks like? Yeah, you won’t even know what to remove, talk less of how to remove. This shows the importance of knowledge: what you know determines where you would be known and what you would be known for. Not just knowing, the effect of knowing. We should come to the understanding that whatever Jesus had said concerning any issue while on earth is the absolute becau

SEXUAL PURITY.

Image
A group discussion on SEXUAL PURITY would be a very quiet one when compare to other discussions most for the time.  It could be a depressing moment for some people, especially for the ones who were violated: I hope you release the pain and embrace the one who comes with Healing Arms to Comfort. Firstly, maybe we all need to know that the presence of your hymen (for girls)  does not necessarily mean you are sexually pure.  Surprised? Yup, I meant it (read it again). This is where some people get it all wrong; so they think they can "do" and "say" all sort of things, so long as the hymen is still there, and there is no penetration, they are sexually pure. But, Nah! 1 Timothy 4:12 - " Don’t let anyone look down on you  because you are young, but set an example  for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith  and in purity." Sexual purity has to do with: -Your speech: Do you say all sort of things that portray sexual immorality, dirty

A PURE HEART

Image
Isa 60:1-2 Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.  For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. Since the fall of man in the garden, the power of darkness took charge and thus the condition of creation up till now. But the One whose birth had been prophesied and echoed since when man fell in the garden reclaimed what we once lost and restored man to a place of unity,  fellowship and intimacy with Trinity through his death, burial and resurrection. For Our Lord Jesus Christ redeemed Us by washing through the blood of the Lamb,  cleansing us from that nature of sin in our Spirits, redeeming us from the curse of the law,  nailing that which was against us to his cross and restoring us to a place of dominion,  power and authority. This was the new covenant God Himself established with us, one in which we are no longer slaves,

THE ROD OF GOD

Image
I'm sure you are familiar with the story about Moses' encounter with the burning bush at Horeb, the mountain of God (Exodus 3). How that 40 years after Moses fled from Egypt, forsaking Royalty to seek the God of His Fathers, he had an encounter with God. But before I go on, in case you grew up like I did, I'd like to correct a misconception about Moses, that "he fled from Egypt because he was afraid of Pharaoh". Not so, Hebrews 11:27 says otherwise. Moses had to leave because he knew God had called him to save his brethren, and his method wasn't gonna work. Thus, he went seeking God, which eventually led to this encounter with God in the flame of fire. (Exodus 3:2). Back to my story about the Rod of God. Now Moses was a shepherd, keeping his father-in-law's flock i.e Jethro, and like every responsible shepherd, he had a rod, which was just "A DRY STICK". I find it quite interesting that in Exodus 4:2, this was just "A ROD&q

Delight

Image
Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past and the true light now shining – 1 John 2 vs 8. As believers, we are in Christ -New creatures, and old things are gone for good. Yes, we are the children of God, the true light is now shining let us also shine as light. Shining as light not under a bushel, not in your closet; afraid of what they might say, what could happen if I do as I ought to be doing as light. See,  walking as light is an evidence of our relationship and  fellowship with Him, and this should be our DELIGHT. A delight that changes and turn men around, making an encounter with you an encounter with God For example, look at Daniel who was a statesman in Babylon -amidst the idol worshippers and blabbers, ferocious fire, corrupt statesmen and a pit with lions- having trust in God and standing by what he believed, he made the king give Glory to Our God. Look at Naomi, Ruth had an encounter with her a

The Aftermath

Image
The Aftermath: From Tax Man to Tribesman. As far as encounters go, the story of Matthew (as well as the other disciples) strikes me as perfect examples for the theme. It tells of how a meeting with our Lord can alter the course of a life... Encounter(n) : is an unexpected or casual meeting with someone. More often than not, events that rock our worlds are the unscheduled detours we tag as "coincidences ". The unplanned have a strong tendency to reshape our plans. It isn't until the ninth chapter of the Gospel according to Matthew that we read of the unexpected meeting between Jesus, and Matthew. Verse 9: As Jesus was walking along, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at his tax collector's booth... NLT It was certainly a casual, unexpected meeting if you ask me. Matthew started the day ordinary, probably had a thought on how messed up his life was but he quickly dismissed it and went about his regular living. When Jesus walked by Levi that day and spoke:

Hold on to your Identity, ISRAEL.

Image
This is an encouragement from the story of a man who got "the blessing of the first born" by being a  trickster,  or from another perspective, as it is written, "according to election" (Romans 9: 11). This is about man who had an encounter with God,  yea two,  and had his name (Character and Authority) changed from Jacob i.e Supplanter, to Israel i.e "prevails with God" or "God prevails". Jacob had 3 major encounters with God. 1-When he fled  from Esau to his Uncle Laban's house and named the place of encounter Bethel (House of God). (Genesis 28:10-22) 2-When he was about to meet with his brother, Esau, and on his way, wrestled with a "Man" who dislocated Jacob's hip and later blessed him and  changed his Name,  thus changing his identity and  mindset, realigning Him to a life of Purpose. He named this place Penuel (Face of God). (Genesis 32:22-32) 3-When God had him return to Bethel to be blessed again, and

Service

Image
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service and be not conformed to this world but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God (Romans 12 vs 1-2). Definitely the above verses state the need for a doing both to the mind and body i.e. the inner building and the outward building (service). Before we move on, let’s do some equations; Pleasing means- to satisfy, good, acceptable, delightful… yeah? It is written that "without faith, it is impossible to please God."- Heb 11 vs 6 So we can joyfully say, to present our bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God has to be in faith. Which means that whatever we do has to be in faith, through faith (Heb 6 vs 12), of faith (Heb 10 vs 22) and by faith (Heb 10 vs 23). You can also see James 2 vs 18

Sin against who?

Image
I'm sure you know the whole story about Joseph (Genesis 37-50) and the part where Joseph's brothers, being envious of him, decided to kill him,  but because Big brother Reuben interceded on his behalf,  they decided to throw him into a pit.  While Big brother Reuben was away,  they decided to sell him as a slave (because according to God's plan Joseph had to be in Egypt one way or the other). 13 years after the incident, Joseph became Prime Minister of Egypt  (at age 30) and his brothers went shopping in Egypt  because of the famine. During an interrogation session between PM Joseph and his brothers,  Reuben said "Did I not speak to you saying 'Do not sin against the boy'?"  (Gen 42:22) Sin against who?  The boy. Rewind back to when Joseph was in Potiphar's house and Mrs Potiphar wanted to sleep with the handsome and dashing Hebrew boy. In his conversation with her,  he said "How then can I do this great wickedness,  and sin

LIBERTY

Image
2 Corinthians 3:17: “Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” KJV. Genesis 41:38: “so Pharaoh asked his officials, can we find anyone else like this man so obviously filled with the Spirit of God?” NLT It’s amazing that one of the Bible’s most beloved heroes started out as a bratty, spoiled teenager. Haters will say I like to hold on to the past but really, I’ve seen that you can make a beautiful story out of hiSTORY. See what I did there? *rubs hands with glee* So let’s start from the very beginning…the events that led to Joseph’s kidnap, imprisonment and subsequent liberation. Joseph = Jose Mourinho= The special one From the outset, Joseph was destined to be his father Jacob’s favourite child. Love and adoration for his mother Rebecca had caused Jacob to slave away for 14 years! Joseph was the child of his love born after a succession of children from a not so beloved wife, Leah; and so it’s no surprise that he earned

Crown of Life

Image
The Crown of Life Zaphnath-Paaneah, whose first name was Joseph, depicted a life of great fear and love for God irrespective of the circumstances, and what men would have said or done.  By the way, Zaphnath-paaneah was the name given to Joseph on assumption of power as second to pharaoh in Egypt. Joseph at the end received a crown, he inherited the kingdom of Egypt after going through so many unfavourable circumstances and temptations (Genesis 39 vs 9-10).   Here are situations you can relate with (Genesis 37 Vs 23-28, 39 Vs 7-20) ; Casting into a pit- have you been deliberately discriminated for who you are or what you believe?...Joseph was. Sold out- seems you have been dragged to a position or situation that you don’t want to be?...Joseph was Slavery- seems you are being owned, having no say even about your life?...Joseph was False accusation – seems that the whole world is falling apart after managing to build a little comfort?...Joseph was.

From Grace to GRACE.

Hello there,  welcome to the month of March,  I pray you progress in knowing God and walking in His Will,  even as He reveals more of His plan for your life this month In Jesus' Name. Amen! So this month,  we'll be doing a character study, Joseph- Israel's Beloved, and we, your writers, we'll be enlightening you on the lessons we learnt from this remarkable Leader's Life. Quick intro,  I'm sure you know Joseph,  the 1st apple of his father's eye,  the guy who had the robe of many colours, who had dreams of becoming great and he rubbed in it his brother's face. Yes he did. Let me not lengthen this write up with his background (Genesis 37),  and go straight to my point. So here's the dreamer, and he find himself in Egypt after his brothers sold him to their cousins (the Ishmaelites). He finds himself in Potiphar's house as a slave,  but then Joseph's fear of God, integrity and a heart of selfless service take him to the top and

United in Love

Image
Already, we've learned not to awaken romantic love .  Hold out on the mushiness until God tells you other wise!! Romans 5:5 tells us that our hearts are filled with God's (perfect )love so if a believer is an eclair, his inner chocolate would be love or if he was a snicker bar, his peanuts would be love. You get my drift? Or you need some more chocolatey illustrations (don't mind me, Valentine's Day has readjusted my body's cravings) Now if our hearts are filled with love, it means we are capable of loving everyone! That's amazing beyond words if you ask me. More than loving everyone, we have a mandate to especially love other Christians. Despite doctrinal differences and what not, Christians are just different parts of the same body. (Romans 12:5) We all share the same DNA. Further down Romans 12, we are admonished to love genuinely - "Don't just pretend to love others. Really love them" verse 9 says. Do not live in a state of false

Don't Awaken Love

Image
"Don't awaken Love until it pleases" Three times was this statement made in the book of Songs of Solomon (SOS 2:7, 3:5, 8:4) and I believe that statement needs to be echoed louder in this generation. Welcome to my generation where we want a quick fix,  instant noodles,  fast food,  even Fast and the furious- on a lighter note.  Although the rate of getting somethings done can be accelerated, this doesn't apply to Love. In other words,  Love needs time. Like a butterfly, Love is an organism that metamorphises on its own as the Creator fashioned it to be,  and it develops with Patience There's been an increase in the rate at which break-ups and divorce cases occur and I strongly believe it's tied to this simple reason, we awaken Love too early. See you can meet someone who's "God sent" but if you fan up the embers of Love too quickly, you'll end up doubting if the person was really "God sent" or the person was &qu

Letter to You

Image
HI, It is the second month of the year on earth, and most people here on earth celebrate LOVE. Hmm... Just as you celebrate the birth of Jesus on December and that of His death and resurrection in April. Well, this is February, and don’t wait till the fourteenth day before you express love which is the new and greatest commandment – love one another as I have first loved you. Yes, I loved you when still a sinner. The love I have for you can’t be removed or changed because I am love and do not change. I love you not because it's February, not because you pleased me, not because he prayed for you, not because you live under the same roof with him, not because of your father or father’s father or your lineage or tribe, but because you are you, my creation. I still love you no matter the tremendous sin you commit, because you don’t determine how I love you, I just hate the sin. Why not just love me in return with all your heart, strength and soul and see how yo
