BREAKING -up- FORTH

BREAKING UP FORTH

So this is Deb’s guide to breaking up with…YOURSELF! And breaking forth like a boss…
We all like to start the year feeling all light, free of baggage and wholesomely new; it’s why we pray all our enemies to death on New Year’s Eve, it’s why we wear new clothes on the first day of the year, it’s why we jump on the bandwagon of the stalest clichés “new year, new me” and the lot.

We make resolutions and break them with the speed of light; but here’s a resolution I’ve made this year and I’d like you to join me on this journey.

This year I’m breaking up with me. I’m breaking up with the thoughts and analysis and arguments roaming in my head which are contrary to God’s Word. I’m putting “self” to death and living life on a premium level with the Holy Spirit as my guide.

One Scripture to aid this journey is of course II Corinthians 10:4-5.
“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds;
casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”
-King James Version.

Verse 4 explains to us that to fight human battles we need spiritual warfare. To break up with negativity and put to death self, you need an arsenal; an arsenal strong enough to actually pull down a stronghold.
An arsenal mighty THROUGH God.

You see, past mistakes, errors, disappointments and all can become gigantic images in our minds that bind us down tightly. In accomplishing God’s plan for you, you’re going to need a culture of pulling down strongholds, casting down imaginations and quieting lofty arguments…do you notice a trend here? The whole warfare situation is entirely a mind game!

In this season of newness, I challenge you to break up with that negative voice constantly ringing in your head!
Break up with that habit of over analysing situations before they even happen!
Break up with those pessimistic thoughts!
And the sweetest thing is that God wants to help you on this journey. He’s interested!
Psalm 68:19 in the NIV says …God our saviour DAILY bears our burdens!!

How fab is that? God sees your heart and is aware of the burdens and He’s there to daily bear you up. This is why prayer and study of the Word should be a daily activity; God is ready to go on this walk with you.  All he requires is that you let Him in.

The concluding part of our anchor scripture says we bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. You know those movies on slave trade where the slaves are bound together by one long chain and so have to move in the same direction at similar speeds? That’s an example of what captivity looks like.

Now imagine doing the same thing to your mindset and thought pattern, if for instance a thought on sudden death comes to mind, you bring such thoughts into obedience to Christ by immediately confessing what the scripture says about life: Psalm 116:8, Psalm 118:17, John 10:10 e.t.c.
I like to call it the “reset move”.

You know the way an egg breaks up its shell to reveal its inner chick? It’s such a beautiful phenomenon yh?

This is only possible because the egg has stayed under the hen long enough to gain strength for such a transformation…they that dwell in the shadow of the almighty…He will cover you with His wings.
Let the world be indeed aware of your newness of heart. Break up with those thoughts and break forth into the amazing plans God has prepared for you.

Love from the other side (of the screen).

Deborah.
